Alternative-fuel vessel orders reach highest monthly level since October 2024
A total of 52 alternative-fuelled vessels were added to DNV’s Alternative Fuels Insight (AFI) platform in August, marking the highest monthly total since October 2024, according to Jason Stefanatos, Global Decarbonization Director at DNV.
The August additions followed 47 vessels recorded in July, bringing the two-month total to 99 vessels and lifting alternative-fuel vessel orders to 242 in the first eight months of 2026. This represents a 27% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
