LNG-fueled platform supply vessel begins conversion to ammonia
Eidesvik has announced that in Project “Apollo,” the platform supply vessel (PSV) Viking Energy will be fitted with an ammonia dual-fuel engine and is expected to begin operating on ammonia in 2026.
The vessel which has been under long-term charter with Equinor since its launch in 2003 will transition to ammonia propulsion in what is set to become the world’s first in-service vessel to use ammonia as its primary fuel source.
