SEA-LNG urges EU to protect mass-balance pathway for biomethane
SEA-LNG has called on the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) to preserve the mass-balance terminal chain of custody for liquefied biomethane (LBM), ahead of expected revisions to the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III) implementing framework.
SEA-LNG argues that LBM, which is chemically identical to LNG and can be used as a drop-in fuel across the existing fleet, is among the few fuels capable of meeting these requirements at the necessary scale and within the required timeframe.
