New collaboration aims to turn forest waste into low-carbon fuel
Carbon Direct and C2X are collaborating on the Beaver Lake Biofuels project in Louisiana, converting forestry residues into biomethanol and high-quality carbon removal (CDR) credits.
Biomethanol is a low-carbon fuel for hard-to-abate sectors like shipping and aviation, cutting lifecycle CO₂ by up to 95% and improving air quality. Growing demand is driven by regulations like FuelEU Maritime, but scaling is limited by the availability of reliable low-carbon supply.
