Executive summary:
The 2015 Guidelines for exhaust gas cleaning systems stipulate discharge criteria for washwater from EGCS. Due to an improved level of information on washwater sampling and analysis, there is a need to improve the sampling guidance of these Guidelines especially as regards washwater data collection. In order to ensure comparability of the data collected, sampling should be carried out on the basis of a harmonized approach. This document proposes a revision of the 2015 Guidelines for exhaust gas cleaning systems as set out in resolution MEPC.259(68), in particular of appendix 3 to the Guidelines.
